Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

2008-09-02. Headless copper brown body. Lightly roast caramel malt aroma. (6+) Similar flavour, moderately sweet caramel malt base, just enough bitterness to keep it somewhat balanced. Average plus palate is lightly carbonated. Not bad. Bottle, Hangar on the Wharf, Juneau

Great buttery smell, texture and taste. Great lacing. The buttery aspect of this ale is amazing. I almost expect this one to have cholesterol.

7/20/08 On draught at the Dog & Pony, Renton, Wa. Aroma is grape candy forward followed by caramel malt. Appearance is clear copper with a well maintained white head. Flavor is all sweet malt forward, citrusy, with caramel and medium bittering. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy, medium/full bodied with a medium carb bite and acid tang. Overall, rich and sweet, but never overwhelmingly sweet.

Sweet caramel nose, noticeable smoky notes. Orange with brown hues and frothy head. Smoky and oaky sweetness, with bitterness cutting at the end. Medium carbonation and body great smooth finish. All around nice Scotch Ale with solid complexity.

Courtesy of douglas88. Pours copper/mahonagy with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, oatmeal, some peat moss, hints of bananas. Tastes of sweet caramel, earthy, touches of fruit, some peaty qualities. Enjoyable. Tastes like oatmeal cookies on the finish.
