Earthy, metallic spicy molasses nose, with a hint of citrus. Flavors of spicy, metallic barley and oats cereal sweetened with honey-molasses. Just a touch of smoke and sourness carries the flavors throughout. Mostly smooth palate: medium-bodied, slightly watery and tingly. Excellent balance and fairly tasty, but feels like a bit more body is needed to push this one up. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA

This was a strange beer experience, because this transformed as it warmed, and not for the better. So my notes are based on my initial reaction. Pours deep reddish brown with an off white head. Sweet berry and malty aroma. Medium bodied with softer carbonation than the other Pike beers on tap, and slightly thin texture. Dark caramel-like maltiness, that is sweet and countered by some tobacco and subtle smoked peat. Short finish.
