Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Drank more like a Vienna Lager than a Scotch Ale, fairly mild and lighter than it should have been. Amber copper color with a thin head and solid lacing. Malty aroma of caramel and sweet bread. Flavor follows suit with a minor earthy taste. A tad thin for what I was expecting. Average beer.

12 oz bottle. Fantastic name! Pours out chestnut brown with minimal head. Aroma was caramel and toffee with a bit of earthy hops. Flavor was very malty, caramel, toffee and some earthy hop notes for a little balance. Not terrible, but not great either.

355ml brown bottle. Orangey brown colour, tan head which fades into a wisp on the surface. Floral hop in the aroma, citrus-grapefruit note, with caramel malt. Peaty smoked malt flavour, some sweetness and caramel malt. Malty, earthy finish with light hops and woody notes. Medium body.

22oz bottle. Brown pour, with a slightly reddish hue, with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, peat, earth and tootsie rolls. Flavor of peat and earth, with caramel and smoke. Medium body. Peat and smoke linger on the palate. Nice.

A dark amber beer with slow bubbles rising and a tiny head, more like a film. Strong malt aroma with a bit of sweetness and molasses character. Very strong flavor, kicks you on the first sip. Strong peaty flavors along with malt, and smokiness and sweetness. Finishes with some hoppy bite.

On Tap at Kahootz: I expected something that was going to lift my kilt a little bit, but I was disappointed with this one. Flavors of cola were noticed and a good balance of malts and hops. Overall, not that great.
