| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 11, 2007 Bottle. Amber colour with a tan head. Sweet caramel malty, light fruity, belgium yeast aroma and taste. Medium body with a dry fruity finish. I like the fruityness that I think comes from the yeast, that might be a Belgium yeasy? hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2006 Bottle... Hazy orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Malty, beefy aroma with a rumor of wood. Malty, sweet flavor with lots of toffee and caramel and a hint of wood. Nicely hopped to keep that sweetness in check. Full-bodied and oily with lively carbonation. Finishes moderately malty and a touch woodsy. Thanks to Kenb for shipping this gem my way! duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 19, 2004 Tap@Pike. Pretty malty and sweet, sticky caramel. Slightly syruppy texture, and really not a hell of a lot more, scotch ales are always a bit hit and miss with me though. bu11zeye (5470), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2007 on tap-pours a light tan head and amber color. Aroma is mild medium malt. Taste is smoky/peat, medium malt-caramel, some hops bitterness. Medium body. OK/mild carbonation. Right on for the style as a cross over beer. JorisPPattyn (5171), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Apr 20, 2006 Draught Hazy orange-brown, some lace coming from no visible head. Diacetyl nose, butterscotch, sweet. Ugh. Diacetyl to the point of undrinkable, butyric acid and acidity, the promised smokiness is available, but drowns in the (rancid) butterscotch. Lots of malt in the background. Slightly burning MF, acidity. Not acceptable. MartinT (5055), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | May 12, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Uninvited brettanomyces spikes the frail toffee and orangey fruitiness walks about drunkenly. This is either an off batch or a scotch ale that does not age well at all.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam circles the cloudy amber.
-Dusty yeast roams about.
-The body is thin (eaten by the wild yeast infection?) and the carbonation too prickly for the style.
-Even if you took away the infection, I don’t think you’d end up with a malt fest worthy of the best scotch ales.
Bottle; Sorry Mike!
