It has a nice roasted, peat malt flavor that is complimented by a certain amount of sourness. demitriustown (708), Shelby Township, Michigan, USA

Pours a clear maroon with minimal head that fades rather fast. Aroma is of malts, caramel, maple syrup and a bit of liquid smoke. Taste consists of nice maltiness with a nice caramel backing. Including a rather light carbonation with a light fruitiness. Palate is slightly bitter and quite carbonated. Overall, Decent scotch ale, nice rounded flavors and enjoyable palate. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 5, 2001 Thought this ’wee heavy’ was just a tad too ’wee’ and not enough of the ’heavy’. Nice copper color; thin head which quickly dissipates due to the appropriately low carbonation; a very subtle smoky malt flavor dominates; on the sweeter side but not syrupy or cloying at all; very smooth texture. A good Scotch Ale with no real faults, but just a bit light overall. belgianhomebrew (646), Acworth, Georgia, USA
