Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

500 ML bottle. Pours dark with a smallish head. Aroma is malt with a good sweet dirt flavor. Pretty easy going and sessionable despite the 6.6

Sour, rye, and hops dominate the aroma on this reddish brown pour. It has a nice roasted, peat malt flavor that is complimented by a certain amount of sourness.

Bottle: Special Thanks to skoisirius for the trade. Pours a clear maroon with minimal head that fades rather fast. Aroma is of malts, caramel, maple syrup and a bit of liquid smoke. Taste consists of nice maltiness with a nice caramel backing. Including a rather light carbonation with a light fruitiness. Palate is slightly bitter and quite carbonated. Overall, Decent scotch ale, nice rounded flavors and enjoyable palate.

Pretty good. Nice balance. I get a little roastiness instead of sweet which is good in my book. I like the ABV, not to high.

Thought this ’wee heavy’ was just a tad too ’wee’ and not enough of the ’heavy’. Nice copper color; thin head which quickly dissipates due to the appropriately low carbonation; a very subtle smoky malt flavor dominates; on the sweeter side but not syrupy or cloying at all; very smooth texture. A good Scotch Ale with no real faults, but just a bit light overall.

Subtle malt aroma. Great balance throughout and hides the alcohol quite well. Not quite as big or as malty as I expected, but good all the same.
