| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 12, 2006 Copper with a quickly fading beige head. Earthy smokey aroma, flavour is malty with a fair bit of smoke and on the bitter side for a scotch ale. Decent at first but I imagine this beer would get boring quickly. biggcb (464), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Sep 29, 2006 Bottle. Pours a fairly dark brown color with a 1/4 in head. I found the aroma to not be as malty as I had expected...but malt was dominant characteristic. Taste is much the same, though I did detect a small amount of hoppiness and something else. I guess it was the peat. Decent and very drinkable, but nothing I would necessarily search out again. Gromit (463), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 28, 2004 Wow. How could have I missed this one for so long?
Pours a dark amber with a nice white head that lasted okay and left a nice lace down the glass.
Smells earthy, with malt and hops.
Taste is hard to explain. I mean, the usual malt and hops are there but there's so much more here. I'm going to include the mouthfeel here because it adds so much to the flavor, but the first thing that you taste is the minerals. This really fills up your mouth with both a great feeling and a wonderful taste. Very earthy all around.
Drinkability? Yes please! I'll definately be seeking this one out more often. baobubba (451), Corvallis, Oregon, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 22, 2002 Sweet stuff. Malt and malt. Roasted/caramel malts, yeast, vanilla, slight spicy hop aroma. Fresh malt aroma (dusty). Sweet stuff with a slight bitter finish. Maybe a little one dimensional (sweetness), but pretty good anyway. Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada
