Strong, full bodied, well balanced, and like the description says there is a hint of smokiness. Excellent beer. smcolw (350), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA

The aroma is sweeter than I expected, but there is a faint hop smell that was also unexpected. If blindfolded, I might think light brown ale or pale ale.
Stronger malt than hop, but this could be described as a hoppy Scotch Ale. Good body, with a solid level of carbonation. Very short aftertaste. Not very complex.

Poured a dark amber hue with a foamy bubbly head. There’d better be some nice alcoholic sweetness on the nose to any good Scoth Ale and this one did not disappoint. Mouthfeel was smooth and tingly with apple, peach, scotch, malty flavours cascading over the senses genlty and settling me into a nice state to slumber like a bear. cstuartj (319), Washington, USA

My first ’Scoth Ale’ was expecting more of a Scotch Whiskey taste to it, but was supprised a a complex yet easy drinking brew of very new style to me. I highly recommend it. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 24, 2009 A hazy burgundy color beer with no head. Aroma was dried fruit. Taste was caramel, dried fruit, & had a watery taste. A very smooth beer. gracefullypunk (316), Washington, USA

On tap; poured a red mahogany with an offwhite head and some lace. Aroma was nearly pure butterscotch. The taste was more of the same, with a slight hint of chili and a definite smokiness. Just when I have myself convinced I don’t much care for Scottish Ales, a beer like this comes along. Not too earthy, just beautifully balanced sweetness. One of their most wildly avaliable beers, I would highly recomend picking up a six-pack.
