Just when I have myself convinced I don’t much care for Scottish Ales, a beer like this comes along. Not too earthy, just beautifully balanced sweetness. One of their most wildly avaliable beers, I would highly recomend picking up a six-pack. swanmann (309), Norman, Oklahoma, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 17, 2004 Updated: Sep 18, 2004bottle 12 oz. Purchased at Huckleberry's in Spokane. Almost clear amber/copper, moderate carbonation, small off white head that died fast, min lace. Aroma is light roasted malt, CO2, minimal hops & a touch of toffee. Flavor is somewhat sweet medium roasted malt rather lightly hopped. Some bitterness with a slight earthy taste & some spice. Medium bodied. A bit tinny (I don't mean tin tasting), could have been smoother and richer but not bad. A trace of alcohol is noticible. I prefer more of a hop balance. Would buy again if I couldn’t get what I like better. MrDick (277), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 15, 2004 On Tap Sweet flavor with light hops. A bit of almond/cashew flavor and floral aftertaste. This tastes like a mild scotch ale - which hides that fact that it packs quite a high ABV. asteele8 (270), Mukilteo, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2006 On tap. Pours a cloudy light brown with a small head on top. Aroma is mostly malty with caramel, fruit, and spice coming through. Flavor is mostly a fruit spiciness. Could taste some hops in there also. A decent beer for a crappy bar. omnivore (270), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2004 It pours a whisky brown with a tawny head that evaporates pretty quickly. Sturdy, malty aroma. Solid flavor- hits the tongue and holds on with the malty sweetness while hitting the roof of the mouth with an alcoholic tang. Verne (261), Enumclaw, Washington, USA

Malt, Roasted malt and roasted barley you can taste it all. Hops yep enough that this beer as malty as it is does not come across as sweet. You can't taste the alcohol and this beer is not a filling as most of this style so be careful
