Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Bottle poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, tobacco, light fruitiness and hints of leather and peat. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, tobacco and brown sugar with a smooth finish. Not a bad beer but not as flavorful as I expect a Scotch ale to be.

More like a light peach lambic. Golde color with almost zero head. Bitter finish.

Draft at Pike Pub & Brewery, Seattle, WA. Tan head that was mostly lasting, very nice lacing, no visible carbonation, transparent, and an orange hue. Nose was malty, hop notes and a pinch of smokiness. Flavor was sweet, malty and hops. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Was looking forward to this one for the style, but ended up disappointed with the flavor. Needs some umph added to it.

Murky, dark orange appearance, light white head which fades quickly. Faint, fruity aroma - a bit of raisins in there as well. Has a slight Christmas spice flavor, with some dates and prunes as well. Has a bit of a smoky undertone to it all. Very clean palate, finishes strong. Alcohol hidden well.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear copper color. Head was foamy, white, and left some decent lace behind. Smelled of light brown sugar. Pretty one dimensional. Dry on the tongue with distinct smoky malt and tobacco flavors accented by mild hop bitterness.

Bottle. Lasting cream head on bronze. Hard to pick much out of the light aroma, perhaps faint hops, caramal and newsprint. Thick body. Weird sweet flavour with a long smokey peat finish. Enjoyable but stops short of the depth I prefer in the style.

Bottle drank with angrypirate06. Pours with a hazed burn brown color underneath a quick to fade, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, light peat, honey, prunes and very light hops. Taste is quite smokey and peaty with caramel, dark fruits and an odd yeastiness. Thin mouthfeel, watery with light carbonation.

Bottle. Amber brown beer with no real head. Malty flavor with some roastiness and enough hops to balance. Malty aroma. Well balanced and easy to drink.
