Pours a semi-clear coppery amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that has some good lacing and off-white ring. Aroma of oatmeal malt, some soy sauce, smoked wood and a touch of sweet red berries. Taste is medium bodied, very little carbonation with a caramel malt and dark berry flavor. Finish is semi-sweet, smooth and creamy with a slight scotch ale (peat/caramel malt) aftertaste. Didn’t quite lift my kilt but a pretty good scotch ale. HoppyGuy (111), USA

Flavor is rich and malty, with a wonderful smoky presence. Good Scotch ale. I’d like to pair this with a hearty soup, maybe split pea with ham hock. Feinschmecker (188), Seattle, Washington, USA

Fantastic dark brown color. Aroma is very malty with a hint of hops. The flavor has big maltiness with the hops not coming into the picture until the end. Without reading the spec or label, one can discern that the alcohol is well over 6, which I think is more suited for this style. I could have a second one, as long as I could wait for it to warm up. killjoy966 (221), Washington, USA

Tastes malty sweet but is subdued compared to the predominantly smoky nature of the beer. My first introduction to scotch ales and certainly not my last. cblado (149), Wisconsin, USA

Aroma is floral, hint of berry perhaps. Flavor has a robust malty nose, but finishes rather mildly. I could drink this all day, honestly, because it feels much lighter than it is. All in all not a bad little souvenir from my trip to Seattle. beergod (103), Austin, Texas, USA

Taste is much of the same but in a much lighter version. Also this Wee Heavy is a lot lighter in body than usual. Very Drinkable and overall not to shabby! Barrios (858), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Smokey and amber, good aroma, and a great aftertaste. Light enough to have a 3-4 without losing taste. Try it with Stuffed Jalepenos form Jack-In-The-Box, sounds strange but it’s like drinking wine with cheese. Some people say it is too smokey...I don’t think so. Might also taste good with some red meat.
