Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Courtesy of douglas88. Pours copper/mahonagy with a thin white head. Smells of caramel, oatmeal, some peat moss, hints of bananas. Tastes of sweet caramel, earthy, touches of fruit, some peaty qualities. Enjoyable. Tastes like oatmeal cookies on the finish.

Thanks to SNOB for the bottle. Auburn amber color, small fizzy white head dissapates quickly. Malty aroma with a tinge of hop spiciness. Sweet caramel malt flavors comingle with a rather fruity ester profile. The nose fairly sweet, whereas the finish is predominately residual fruit character. The mouthfeel is a bit watery.

Orange-brown, slightly hazy, moderate cream coloured head. Aromas of citrus hops, wet leaves, and an earthy, peaty undertone. Surprisingly hoppy palate, almost tangy, with the healthy helping of malt as promised. Pleasantly earthy and sweet. Easy on the peat, which is a good thing.

Pours a dark amber, slightly brown-copper body with a minuscule head. Bold and sweet Scottish with smokey peatiness and a hint of whisky in a rather mild strong ale (if this is possible). Solid brew.

On tap. Pours a cloudy light brown with a small head on top. Aroma is mostly malty with caramel, fruit, and spice coming through. Flavor is mostly a fruit spiciness. Could taste some hops in there also. A decent beer for a crappy bar.

Pours garnet into a thistle. Creamy white micro head with excellent retention leaves no lacing as it recedes to skim surface. Apple and caramel aromas. Sweet and full with caramel upfront and a dry pit fruit finish.

Bottle from Scrizz, thanks. Pours a nice golden amber with a thin off white head. The head disapates quickly, but laces well. Has a smokey aroma of fruit and malts. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is mild but good. Has a spiciness too it but not too much. Has a medium body. A watery texture. A real good finish with a nice aftertaste. I like it.
