Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Pours a hazy copper color from the bottle with a beige head. Looks, smells, and tastes nothing like a scotch ale. If anything, I would gesture that this is an abbey dubbel. Aroma and flavor of overripe red apples, cinnamon, caramel, and faint pear. A bit high in water content, but not bad.

12 oz bottle. Fantastic name! Pours out chestnut brown with minimal head. Aroma was caramel and toffee with a bit of earthy hops. Flavor was very malty, caramel, toffee and some earthy hop notes for a little balance. Not terrible, but not great either.

Pours brown/amber frothy tan head fades quickly. Aroma is a lot of brown sugar and sweet fruit. Taste is the same. Medium-thin body, low carbonation. Some lingering sweetness and roast.

Pours brown/red. A very mild aroma. Smooth on the palate. A little smoke note, was hoping for a little more smokiness. Piney hops. A little dry, a little sweet with a short finish.
