Commercial Description:
Unlike the lighter "Scottish" ales, this is an authentic heavy Scotch ale. It is lightly hopped with a strong malt character, and a hint of peaty smokiness. Warm fermentation produces fruity esters and balances the sweet malt character.

Shared at the superpower beer session in Tårnrommet, part one. Clear, amber-ruby content with a filmy-like head. Aroma is a mix of wood, oak and malts. Rich malty taste profile with a fragile peaty touch. Fine drinkability. Thanks to Stefan and Elisabeth for carrying a 355ml bottle all the way from Seattle to Tromsø [13.01.2009].

Bottle. Light brown, small off white head short lasting. Very lacy all around my glass. Very sweet for a scotch, different in that it is very malty with an alcohol tinge without the content, interesting. Carmel slight hoppy palate. Finish is very smooth. Its not my Fat Bastard, but an interesting scotch never the less.

Smell is caramel, malts, sweet, peat desserty. Look is amber to red in color not much of its off white head. Taste is caramel, malts, sweet, fruit, and peat. Missing and disappointing.

Tasted at the Pizza Port Bottle shop in November with some other Ratebeer folks. Dont know who brought this one. Average to under-average Scotch Ale. Sweet malty flavor with and earthy and smoky aroma. Finishes thin with some tones of dark fruit. Not much body and a bit of a metallic aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a decent head. The taste is: some hops, a caramel and malty semi-sweetness, and a smokey burnt flavor. Smooth and medium body. There is no more than a hint of scotch or the 6.6%. A good one.

Bottle. Pours brown with minimal head that quickly disperses. Nice malt aroma. Flavors of roast and malt with alcohol taste. Bit light in body.

Bottle, Brewery Creek
Dark golden-amber colour. Toasty, caramelly, mushroomy earthiness in the aroma. Flavour starts woody - this is both anglohop and toasty malt - and gathers up a little bit of brown sugar sweetness as it goes. Too damn clean for style. Finishes more caramelly and mushroomy than anything else, like you caught the ovation but missed the show.
