Commercial Description:
A mildly hopped beer with a complex malt character, and a soft creamy head. Soft and fruity with light yeast esters of apricot and orange. It is a refreshing and crisp session beer, with just enough hops to balance and round out the sweetness of the malt. 34 IBU 1.048 OG

Forgive me a bit of a narrative: Here in Poky there’s this awesome little shop called the Grapevine, where beer can be purchased by the bottle, or in mix n match 6 packs for a 5% discount. The last sixer I assembled went into a recycled Naughty Nell’s six pack holder, and since then I’ve been itching to taste this ale. Let’s crack her open, shall we? Sticking my nose at the neck of the bottle and breathing deeply, I find some nice floral dry hopping, but also a hit of skunkyness that I hope is not to follow. She pours into my glass a very pale golden, with moderate but quickly disappeating head. Now for the first taste: better than I expected. A little bit of the skunky, but far less than the aroma would lead one to believe. A sweet malt character that is quickly balanced by hops that are fruity/floral, but not particularly bitter. Lighter on the carbonation than the pour revieled, goes down very smooth. Hey, this stuff is pretty good! My style is much more bitter, but the bottle is right: "a crisp, refreshing session beer". This beer could hold it’s own against most macro-micro domestics I’ve tasted. Might be a good transition beer for the BMC crowd. Overall a winner; a good beer to bring to a party.

Golden colour with a fairly fruity cascade type of aroma. Sweet grapefruit/orange aroma with some toffee malts. Light crystal malt. Flavour is well-balanced. Lots of hop flavour. I’d like a bit more bitterness, but it is well-made. Nice session beer.

golden yellow pour, nice white head, dry hopped to give it a very pleasing aroma mix with the malt, a bit overhopped to call it a sessoin beer but overall I always enjoy these

Pours a golden yellow. Aromas of pale malt, big hops, some citrus. Flavor of light malts, citrus and some good hop bite.

Bottle: I wish I could have been more impressed with this famous Northwest brew, but I wasn’t. It is clear gold with an off-white, fizzy head and semi-sticky lacing. The aromas are pretty sweet with a light hop presence. I ddin’t prefer the taste which was perfume with a mild wheat taste and a soapy aftertaste. Something was weird about the aftertaste in general, like hops gone funky. I now call Naughty Nellies, "Nasty Nellies."

filthy golden amber hue with a white diminishing head. musty nose with little character. flat on the palate with slight citrus notes and suble malt flashes. thin and uninteresting.
