Angeloregon (1867), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 17, 2007 For those with a zest for dark porters, the Pike Old 89 is a wise choice. Pours a dark amber-brown body with a handsome tan head. Described as a modern version of an old world beers, Old 89 heads out much like an English stout, while coming at you with rich coffee tonus and closing with a particularly malleable, lightsome finish. SuzyGreenberg (934), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 6, 2007 tap - nice & dark, but comes off a little flat and slightly bitter; basic flavors motelpogo (4111), Plzen, Czech Republic Dec 12, 2004 on tap at the brewpub. quite dark with a thin, lasting off-white head. some cocoa powder and whipped cream in the aroma, smooth and drinkable, faint tartness and a little after dinner mint OldGrowth (1269), Cary, North Carolina, USA Jul 30, 2004 Tap at brewpub. Good nose, choc/coffee/mocha. Little egg or salty too. Classic brown/ black color. Good head that faded. Sweet and bitter flavors, chocolate/ soap/ tinny. Thin bodied, sweet dry finish. Slightly off from a classic porter. Just alright. kbjames (229), USA Jul 11, 2004 hat this on tap and it was pretty good, I compare it as a tasty version of guniess. It was very creamy with decent lacing, and the taste was very full, very much a decent porter. I will go with this one again if I go back.
