Commercial Description:
Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

(Bottle, 2006 vintage) Pours a lightly hazy amber body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of fruit bread, caramel, and toffee. Flavor of toasted and caramel malts, brown sugar, and fruit.

Thanks to Old Mr. Crow for this. The pour is turbid muddy brown with 1-finger of khaki head, a small Guinness cascade, and great lacing. Nose is big hops, earthy peaty scotch malt, figgy fruit, brown sugar, slight funk. The flavor is scotch malty, earthy, hoppy, with a well defined fruit presence, brown sugar, and some finishing vinous notes. The palate is very rich and complex. My vintage was 2007, and my assessment is that I’d drink this any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Bottle, thanks to Bu11zeye for this. Poured a cloudy gold with off white head. Sweet malty aroma with slight aroma hops for a slight floral scent. Taste was sweet malt and alcohol spice. Overall, a very nice beer.....would have again.

Bomber, thanks to Becker. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is boozy with slight oxidation and tangerine rind. Flavor has the carboard I had a feeling would be there along with overripe apricot and peach.

Bottle from someone. Yuck. Astringent, burning, powerful bitter hops, a body of gasoline and windex. And this is already 2 years old! Smells kind of like french fries. Pour is ridiculously fizzy, bubbles sticking to the walls of the glass like pepsi. Blech.

2006 version bottle at the brewery. Pours a nice gold color with a head that disappears. Aroma is sweet and fruity, caramel malts, and brown sugar, with huge floral hops too. Sweet caramel malts and brown sugar up front with big balancing bitterness that is both floral and aspiriny. Lingering bitter hops even for being 2 yrs old. Only a little alcohol. I enjoyed this one alot.
