Commercial Description:
Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

Poured a hazy copper color with a thin off-white head. Sweet and fruity malt with some citrusy hop towards the finish that turns to a bitterness. The aroma matches the flavor. Sweet and fruity. Medium bodied.

Pours gold with a smooth white head. Good sweet barleywine, this had been aged for almost a year but still was a bit hot, could go for a few more to improve more. Soft caramel palate with a earthy bready finish and moderate citrus hops. Overall, nice barleywine, aged well so far and will continue to do so.

Cloudy, dark gold pour with short pale head. Very sweet with cognac, chocolate and raisin flavours. Good body. Clean, hoppy finish, no lace. A shade more hops and it would rival Bigfoot!

Draft at Bailey’s Taproom, Portland. An unclear amber beer with a thin light brown beer. The aroma is sweet malty malty and fruity and hoppy aroma. The flavor is sweet and very hoppy leading to a dry very bitter finish with notes of grass and grapefruit.

2006 Vintage, 12-oz bottle from Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington. Pours a semi-clear light brownish amber brew with a decent off-white head that has a slow dissolve that leaves behind an excellent lacing and bubbly foamy top. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, vanilla, a touch of toffee and some dark pitted fruits. Taste is syrupy, full bodied, very light carbonation with lots of grapefruit, raisin and caramel flavors. Finish is bitter with a sweet raisin aftertaste that is followed by a nice alcohol warmth that is well hidden in the lingering fresh bitterness flavor.

2006 bottle. Wonderful vinuous sweet aroma, vanilla and oak, raisins, toffee and alcohol, butterscotch. Vapors and chocolate with light fruity hops. Quite and intense nose. Coppery-ruby-orange clear with light chunks, and thin off-white lacing head. Heavy watery full bodies, with light carbonation. Starts sweet with rich and malty sugary-ness, vanilla and chocolate and oak. Brown sugar, toffee, and alcohol warming. Mild to medium bitter finish with good sweetness. Bitter after with light sweet character. Nice barley wine, aged nicely. Want more.
