kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA Nov 20, 2008 2007 version.: Dark maple colored with a thin film, off-white head. Sweet, sugary, malty nose. Hoppy, bitter flavor with a sweet, heavy malt backbone. Natural mineral water flavored finish with hops. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle… Hazy caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is all about rich, gooey caramel. Full-bodied and chewy with tickling carbonation. Caramel sweetness supersedes grapefruit pith bitterness. Bittersweet finish. Bottle courtesy of mgumby10! JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 22, 2008 2006 bottle. Orange-amber color with a light-med head. Aroma is rather hoppy with some heavy sugar, caramel, and citrus. Flavor retains some heavy hops with some very sweet malts. Nice, but needs some time. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Oct 11, 2008 bottle thanks to dyetube. deep amber pour with no head just a ring of white froth. nice nose of hops with a decent malt background. great thickness with a very smooth hop finish. i need another bottle or 2 to cellar. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 4, 2008 bottle, a thick orange to brown pour, head is creamy tan and nose is very caramel fruity, flavors of bread, caramel sugar, fruit cocktail with a peaty alcohol finish, very nice wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle from kp. Thanks Keith! Pours amber with a small microbubble head. Aroma is some ethanol. some long boil caramelization. Some burn in the taste, with some medicinal metallic taste. The slightest hint of oxidation. An OK beer, but brought down by lower drinkability from alcohol presence. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Sep 29, 2008 2007 Bottle. Pours an ultra thick viscousness, with a very tight, creamy, light brown head that leaves good lacing. Hazy amber body with a few particles floating. Decent retention. Aroma is room filling, sticky-sweet caramel, pine and pitted fruits. Taste is a bit toasty upfront, strong alcohol, piney, caramel and very sticky overall. Some berries, smoke and a bitter more bitterness as it warms. Mouthfeel is super syrupy, and again, sticky, nearly chewy mouthfeel... like maple syrup. Very warming. Nearly to sticky and warming to be enjoyable...nearly. 12oz might be better than the 22oz bomber I had. boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 26, 2008 Bottle... Poured amber with a thin beige head. Aroma was buttery with some leafy hops and smooth malt. Nice palate, kind of foamy with fllavors of toffee butter, chocolate, malt and mild hops for a little bitterness. Could hardly taste any alcohol and was very easy to drink.
