Musty cocoa with a touch caramel and apples. Citrus and alcohol. Full bodied sweet and sticky. Nice burn. Nutty toasty flavors. Peppery and bready. Big bitterness but off set by fruity esters. Anise and touch rye. Big hop profile. Citrus grapefruit pepper and resinous hops. Too hop driven, but definitely above par! By far! jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA

I havent had a barley wine in quite some time, and after drinking the Port Old Visc, I couldnt resist trying something else. This one looked weird at first, as it seemed almost a yellow color, but as the glass filled it slowly became more orange in color. Little bit of a white head on top of it. Smell is hoppy and has a little bit of smoked notes to it, with some citrus orange fruits. Taste is smooth and fruity, with a nice grassy flavor and hop bitterness. Smooth and pleasing, not a bad beer really. No point to age it, its good where it is. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2008 Bottle shared by footbalm. Pours a cloudy amber with a tiny head. The aroma was sweet apple cider and candies. The taste was very smooth, full of caramel, some dark fruit, a touch of brown sugar, toasted malts, not much of a Scotch presence, but good nevertheless.
