Commercial Description:
Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

NorCal tasting June ’07 - A pretty average, run-of-the-mill barleywine here. Aroma is wet paper, lightly medicinal, malty with an odd fresh linen smell. Amber in color, white head, decent lacing. Mouthfeel is on the thin side. Flavor is mostly malty, with a bit of fruits dancing around. Light vanilla notes too. Not a horrible barleywine, and it didn’t give me that overloaded feeling after drinking some of it. It could be a lot more complex, but it’s nothing awful.

2006 bottle. Orange-amber color with a light-med head. Aroma is rather hoppy with some heavy sugar, caramel, and citrus. Flavor retains some heavy hops with some very sweet malts. Nice, but needs some time.

Bottle shared with the guys courtesy of ScottyP from his trip to Austin. Hazy amber pour with floating particulates and light tan ring of head. Roasty, peaty, earthy, smokey. A little warming booziness. Resiny pine and grassy hop finish. Great Barleywine

Bottle from kp. Thanks Keith! Pours amber with a small microbubble head. Aroma is some ethanol. some long boil caramelization. Some burn in the taste, with some medicinal metallic taste. The slightest hint of oxidation. An OK beer, but brought down by lower drinkability from alcohol presence.

2007 bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours a hazy dark amber color with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, brown sugar, bready yeast, floral hops, honey, grass. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, wood, floral hops, butterscotch, honey, spice. Generally medium body with a pleasing malty floral hop finish.

2007 bomber shared by Ethan. Thanks bro. Been trying to drink this for a while. Nose was fruity, rich, and slightly hoppy. Flavor was rich caramel, still pretty hoppy, a bit of peat. Pretty nice, but I expected less bitterness. Easy to drink with a light mouthfeel and warming finish.

Bottle pours a slightly hazy amber with a nice white creamy head. Spotty lacing. Sweet caramel nutty brown sugar aroma. Some alcohol notes as well. Flavor is nutty, smooth sweet, and the ABV is apparent. Plenty of bitter piney hops. Lingering bitter bite. Thanks Jordan

Bottle, thanks to Bu11zeye for this. Poured a cloudy gold with off white head. Sweet malty aroma with slight aroma hops for a slight floral scent. Taste was sweet malt and alcohol spice. Overall, a very nice beer.....would have again.
