Commercial Description:
Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

Thanks to Oakes for sending this one my way. Deep orange coloured beer with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and fruity cherry. Lots of fresh hoppy aroma over the sweet malts. The flavour is fairly peppery with a good amount of bitterness on the back. The malts are bright and clean. Some soft orange peel and light candyish aromatics. There is a good interplay of sweet pale malt, some nice fruity complexity and loads of piny hops. Good balance and I think it will age well.

12oz bottle from kp. Thanks Keith! Hazy reddish orange. Big sweet crystal malt, cherry and cedar in the nose. Smooth, oily, thick, woody and nutty and still retaining some very fresh tasting raspberry and other fruit. Fantastic barley wine that tastes well aged.

Bottle@UDRM, vintage 2007. Beautiful balanced, malty, fruity Barley Wine. Besides that the necessary hops are present. This makes it balanced, flavourful and for a Barley Wine highly drinkable.

Bottle - 2006 Vintage: Orange amber color, light head and lacing. The nose is fresh yet vegetal with lots of hops and a strong alcohol and peaty notes. The flavor is strong, fairly unrounded and boring with a spicy scotchy note, excess bitterness and alcohol. The finish is strong and scratchy, lacking a smooth character. They should have held onto this in the brewery for another year until it was ready. Young, brash and agressive.

Bottle sample shared by alexsdad06. Poured hazy orange copper color with a moderate frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate fruity, earthy and small caramel malty aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy prune bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a complex standout beer.

2006 bottle @ the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a small white head. Sweetish malty and very hoppy grapefruit aroma. Sweetish and very malty sugary dark fruit flavor with hoppy hints. Long warming malty dark fruit finish with some hoppy hints.

Thanks to Old Mr. Crow for this. The pour is turbid muddy brown with 1-finger of khaki head, a small Guinness cascade, and great lacing. Nose is big hops, earthy peaty scotch malt, figgy fruit, brown sugar, slight funk. The flavor is scotch malty, earthy, hoppy, with a well defined fruit presence, brown sugar, and some finishing vinous notes. The palate is very rich and complex. My vintage was 2007, and my assessment is that I’d drink this any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
