Commercial Description:
Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

Bomber, thanks to Becker. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is boozy with slight oxidation and tangerine rind. Flavor has the carboard I had a feeling would be there along with overripe apricot and peach.

2007 Bomber a bonus from OldMr.Crow. Thanks. Pours orange with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet with nice dried fruit. Taste is full bodied and sweet with nice tones of caramel and toffee. Nice brew overall, above average BW.

2007 Bottle. Pours an ultra thick viscousness, with a very tight, creamy, light brown head that leaves good lacing. Hazy amber body with a few particles floating. Decent retention. Aroma is room filling, sticky-sweet caramel, pine and pitted fruits. Taste is a bit toasty upfront, strong alcohol, piney, caramel and very sticky overall. Some berries, smoke and a bitter more bitterness as it warms. Mouthfeel is super syrupy, and again, sticky, nearly chewy mouthfeel... like maple syrup. Very warming. Nearly to sticky and warming to be enjoyable...nearly. 12oz might be better than the 22oz bomber I had.

Bottle@UDRM. Tnx Jbrus! Vintage 2007. Aroma is hoppy, citric and has caramel maltiness. Clear, orange-brown coloured beer with no head. The taste is bitter, sweet, has citrus, sugar/caramel and hops. Siruppy texture. Decent body.

Sample at the Eurostash II tasting on 12/12/09: 2006 & 2007 bottles. This beer pours a deep amber-brown color with a thin and creamy beige head that recedes slowly. Thick rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is hoppy with notes of brown sugar, caramel malt and pine. Rich body with a resiny character and a piney hops flavor along with notes of toffee, smoked malt, and fruit. The finish is sweet molasses and a lingering hops aftertaste. Of the two vintages I preferred the 2007 a little more as it had a slightly better balance but the beers were very similar.

Pours gold with a smooth white head. Good sweet barleywine, this had been aged for almost a year but still was a bit hot, could go for a few more to improve more. Soft caramel palate with a earthy bready finish and moderate citrus hops. Overall, nice barleywine, aged well so far and will continue to do so.
