Hazy orange beer with faint white head and plenty of sediment floating about. Sweet rich caramel malt nose and some very faint citrus. Definite citrus hop in the body what does a good job of balancing the malty sweetness. Bitter finish. Nice to have another barley wine with something to differentiate it from the pack. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Bottle. Pours an orange-copper body with a little soapy white head. The aroma is mostly minerals, bread malt, and thick fruity hops. Tastes quite brash- grassy pine hops and alcohol is clearly evident. Pretty good but not overly defined. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Pale colored barley with a frolicsome cool head. Hoppy, tawdy big beer. Had this on draught at Oaks Bottom in Sellwood. The bottle price of this beer in stores is an unsubtle overtax. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 2, 2008 Bottle, Pours a clear bright copper with a dense but fading off-white head. Mild and sweet aroma of fruit, peat, citrus. Thick and chewy, with light carbonation. The taste starts sweet, oranges, toffee, brown sugar. Lots of bitter grapefruit pith on the tail end. In a year or two this is gonna be great. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2008 12oz. bottle, 2006 vintage. Only a faint hiss of escaping gas as the bottle is cracked. Strong aroma of toasted caramel malt sweetness with lighter notes of raisin and honey along with a touch of citrus and alcohol. Deep amber color, the faint head quickly subsiding entirely. Flavor is again strongly malty and sweet, with dark brown sugar and toasted, nearly roasted malt character in fact, and lighter additions of spicy hop bitterness, dried fruits and peppery, medicinal alcohol. Palate is smooth and sturdy, body is certainly full enough. This is one Ive been wanting to try for quite some time, it sure would be interesting to have some other vintage or a fresh bottle for the sake of comparison, younger bottles showing a much different hop profile, no doubt, if the 90 IBUs on the bottle is any measure. cbkschubert (2027), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Malty sweet pit fruit aroma with some hot alcohol. Medium/heavy body. Pit fruit and caramel sweetness with some dry malt flavor. has a nicely bitter hop alcohol tang to finish. Easy drinking now and not so rough around the edges as it was in early 2007. mar (1972), Dallas, Texas, USA
