Commercial Description:
Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

Via trade. Pours a nice red orange with a one finger yellow head. Very pretty. Nose is sweet, malty, caramel, peachy, fruity, pungent, English feel, nice citrus rind hop feel. Flavor is sweet and malty, mild oxidation, warming, nice citrus rind bitterness, nice flavor. Very mellow barley wine. Easy to drink. Warming palate with a prominent bitterness.

Pours a cloudy dark brown, with a small off white head. Smells of typical barley wine notes, lots of caramel and bready yeast, hops, and dark fruits. The flavor was also typical barley wine characters, with alot of the same flavors as in the nose. Lightly sweet and stingy from the alcohol on the palate, but not a monster. Light hop bitterness is apparent in the finish and lingering aftertaste. Just another run of the mill decent barley wine for me.

Lighter colored for a barley wine, more of a light bronze or copper. Rich mouthfeel. Mild, mediocre flavors. Hints of tobacco leaves and dried caramel, red apple and highland scotch whisky. Don’t enjoy the flavors too much, to be blunt. Aromas are a little lacking as well, although it might be the most enjoyable element. An ok BW.
