Commercial Description:
Named to commemorate the La Salle Hotel, once a Seattle bawdy house and the original home of the Pike Brewing Company. Old Bawdy is a vintage-dated, high-gravity beer brewed with peated Scotch malt. It has a deep golden bronze color, a fruity rich taste, and an aggressive and dominating hop character with smoky undertones that are reminiscent of Scotch whiskey.

Pours a deep burnt orange with thin white head. Huge aroma of sweet malt dark fruit like plum and crisp apple. Big flavor too malty goodness and a good fruity balance. Good BW.

2006 bottle @ the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a small white head. Sweetish malty and very hoppy grapefruit aroma. Sweetish and very malty sugary dark fruit flavor with hoppy hints. Long warming malty dark fruit finish with some hoppy hints.

Via trade. Pours a nice red orange with a one finger yellow head. Very pretty. Nose is sweet, malty, caramel, peachy, fruity, pungent, English feel, nice citrus rind hop feel. Flavor is sweet and malty, mild oxidation, warming, nice citrus rind bitterness, nice flavor. Very mellow barley wine. Easy to drink. Warming palate with a prominent bitterness.

smokey meat smell in the pub makes aroma difficult-- caramel, hops, peat smoke, lemon. almost sticky on the tongue but good carbonation (on tap at Oaks Bottom). blushing amber body with white head. I taste peches, honey, lemon, buffered bitter. fruity than most batrleywines wihtout the sour esters. alcohol warming. a fine one. (apparently charging a high price at the store for a bottle.)

2006 vintage. Pours a hazy reddish orange with caramel colored head. Nose is full of strong sweet malts, caramel, toffee, and a hint of citrusy hops. Flavors of caramel, sweet malt, bitter piney hops, grapefruit, and citrus. Nice mouthfeel, thick, but not to heavy. Pretty nice.

2006 version bottle at the brewery. Pours a nice gold color with a head that disappears. Aroma is sweet and fruity, caramel malts, and brown sugar, with huge floral hops too. Sweet caramel malts and brown sugar up front with big balancing bitterness that is both floral and aspiriny. Lingering bitter hops even for being 2 yrs old. Only a little alcohol. I enjoyed this one alot.
