Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 25, 2008 From the ’06 batch. Hazy golden-amber colour. Great blend of peachy pale malt-borne esters, french bread, vanilla and subtle woody notes in a well-rounded and complex aroma. That little bit of masculine woodiness plays so well off of the soft floral notes. The body is actually a little flat, but with a hint of spritziness late. This works well - it lays a slick sweetness with a hint of vanilla across the palate, then smacks you with the burlier notes of alcohol, herbal hops, and rich bready malts. I’m not that nutty about Old Bawdy normally, but this is seriously dialed-in. A fully realized BA beer.
