Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Dec 7, 2000 Great nose, very flavorful beer. Nice wheat and bread dough essences. Tart and a nice hop bite, YUM!!! Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 18, 2009 A lightly hazed golden weizen with a thin white head. In aroma, intense bananas, cloves and aromatic esters, intense and nice. In mouth, a light wheat malt with intense cloves, light aniseed, thinner than expected but very good. On tap at brewpub, Sept. 12 2009. scrizzz (1250), kirkland, Washington, USA Sep 7, 2009 Hazy orange brown, same as the wood at the table in the brewpub. Medium-full roast aroma. Seems strongly spiced, doesn’t the description at the bar say it’s Belgian? Now I can’t remember and it’s not in my notes. Initially toasted wheat, strong yeast character and seems to be spiced with coriander. I hope I’m not way off. As I drink it, it softens into gentle citrus and a bit of smoky driftwood. Nik925 (300), California, USA Sep 2, 2008 Great wheat flavor shines through constantly. Great carbonation. Yeast flavors a bit too mild. Strong cereal flavors. A decent hefe. jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands May 7, 2009 Tap@Brewpub. Strong banana aroma with some lemon. Hazy, dark yellow colour, white head, good lace. Sweetish, banana, hint of grapefruit, bitter for a Weizen. Refreshing, high drinkability, not really special but more than OK. Verne (261), Enumclaw, Washington, USA Jan 19, 2003 Wow an American Wheat I like. Refreshing without being watery or boring. There is a fruity flavor and I just might taste just a hint of spice. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 28, 2008 On tap at Pike Place in Seattle, WA--Poured a hazy rugged light golden body. Soft fruity esters with a touch of bittering hops and nutty yeast. Not too bad. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Sep 1, 2005 (Draft: Pike Pub & Brewery in Seattle, WA) Sweet, spicy nose, with kind of odd maltiness. Hmm, one of the stranger wheat beers I’ve tried, it’s taken me a few minutes to place the aroma, but it’s just like opening a fresh bag of wheat bread. The wheat malt seems a bit toasty, like it’s been freshly harvested, and sweet, like it’s been slightly caramelized. Very light bitterness comes out in the finish. Light bodied, with enough wheat malt so that it’s not watery. Pale golden in color, and fairly hazy, it’s topped by a small white head that settles to a ring. Some patchy lacing at the top of the glass. Very different, but once over the shock, I like it.
