The color is absolute black, with a brownish creamy head on medium size. It has a mild aroma of bread and roasted malt. The body has a good strength, quite round mouthfeel, with a good flavor of roasted malt and dark caramel, the bitterness is a crescendo till the end, very nice; there is a trace of liquorice; long final. Very good, almost Imperial.

Jul 27, 2008 From bottle #18 at sk8vikings American blind tasting. Pours dark brown to black with alacing tan head. Sweet and fruity hops aroma with a nice malt roasted malt flavour. Flavour is dry and slight smoked towards roasted malty. Fruity hoppy flavour following. Bitter and dry finish with a persisting fruity hops flavour nicely complimenting the mild roasted malt finish.

Bottle [Sk8viking great American blind tasting] Small brownish bubbly head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, burned malt, liquorish. Wood, hint of vanilla, and bitter liquorish. Medium to full bodied with an average carbonation and dry thick alcoholic texture. Moderated to heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness. Lingering pine dry and bitter liquorish finish. 8 / 3 / 8 / 4 / 16 = 3.9
