Apr 11, 2007 Bottle.Rating #750. Thanks to Degarth for sending me this one. Dark black body with thin head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, cocoa, and roasted malt. Flavor is bittersweet with a nice malty taste. Chocolate and cocoa are present. Smooth and delicious.

Apr 11, 2007 This was from a 22oz bottle purchased in Ashland, Oregon. It poured a deep black color, and left a nice tan head. Lacing was chunky and attractive in the glass. The nose was sweet molasses, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, nice roast malts, and citrus hops. Mouthfeel was thick and oily, and very smooth. Flavor is the molasses, coffee, chocolate, malts, hops and some sweet fruits kicking in. and some dark fruits. Finish was long and enjoyable with just enough piney hops to go with the coffee at the end. Wonderful brew.

Mar 20, 2007 22oz bottle from yonkers65 thanks:pour a black colour with a nice foamy coffe coloured head. aroma is of smoke and choaolate, and some malt. a wonderful chocolate flavor that is very full very smooth with a perfect bitter espresso bite in the finish.

Mar 8, 2007 22-oz. bottle via trade with Larry Pitonka. Pours opaque with an average creamy dark brown head, somewhat diminishing, good lacing. Aroma is average malt (molasses, chocolate), heavy hops (perfume, pine), average yeast (leather) with notes of smoke. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness; heavy roasted malt flavor.

Mar 3, 2007 22oz bottle. Good multiple aromas from this beer. Smoke, wood and mild sweet licorice. Black body with dark tan head and oily lacing left on glass. Medium body texture along with some coffee and coco flavors. Smooth on the palate and left a dry tobacco aftertaste.

Light aroma of coffee and roasty malts.
Flavor of tobacco, burnt wood and roasty malts with a medium heavy body and rich mouthfeel.

Feb 17, 2007 Pours black with tan thin head and all the way to the bottom of the glass lacing. When I loved stouts, I would have loved this. Dark, rich coffee and smoke aromas and flavors. Feels like more alcohol than it is. Burnt, caramalized aftertaste. Alas, I no longer care for stouts, thus the rating.
