The Lure: Approchable citrusy hops and malt roastiness. Intriguing milky beads amongst the pleasant chocolatey sweetness.
The Festivities: A below-average body, perhaps a sign of its age, presents mostly roastiness. Not much sweetness to back it all up, burnt bread bitterness and dryness take most of the room. Some citrusy hops manage to participate, but all in all, this is not quite what the commercial description suggested.
Transcendence: Another suit and tie in the building. jazz88 (2236), San Francisco, California, USA

Dense head. Beer is black as night. Flavor is nutty/coffee. Good aftertaste, not the best. If you can get it on tap, it’s absolutely wonderful. Rentalman (103), British Columbia, Canada

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 13, 2005 Wonderful, rich, sweet, chocolatety, hoppy aroma. Completely opaque body, light brown head that is mostly diminishing. Very nice sporadic lace. This is a very good beer. A wave of dark chocolate rushes to the back of the tongue. This is one of the better stouts I have had. A few more % of alcohol and this would be awesome. Exceptionally well made. Thanks, Slikwily!
