Commercial Description:
A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

Cask at Elysian’s SBW Firkin-Firkin throwdown (vs. Stone "Oaked" IRS). Pours dark brown with minimal head. Roasty malts, chocolate, and oatmeal in the smell and taste. Decent smooth mouthfeel, but not much of a finish. This should have been way overmatched against that Stone, but there seemed to be something a little weird in that cask, so it was close. With conflicting labels at Elysian and no sign of a (non-bourbon) oaked IRS on here, I’m not even sure what that Stone offering was.

A pitch black pour with creamy tan head and lace. Large roasted malt aroma with light chocolate and coffee. An almost licorish hint with a medium malt bitter and a bit of nice warmth. Medium/full bodied with very nice carbonation.

Thanks to decaturstevo for sharing this one. Pours black with a tan head. Roast malt aroma, some coffee. Roast malt bitterness dominates the flavor profile. Smooth bitter.

On tap at Pike in Seattle. Poured a dark brown to black in color. Lacing with a light brown head. Aroma of smoke, coffee and oats. Flavor is much of the same with a bit more cocoa and coffee. Solid stuff overall.
