Bottle at Chris O’s Shindig. Black as night. Rich roasty aroma that is very good indeed. Thick dark chocolate flavour with coffee, vanilla and more roasted malt. Gloriously smooth on the palate. Full bodied stout that is fairly straight down the line but jolly tasty. thewolf (5806), Kolding, Denmark

Pours pitch-black with a medium creamy beige-brown head. Good lacing. Aroma is heavy, coffee, dark chocolate. Oily and full mouthfeel. Flavour has coffee, roasted malts but all in all lots of deep deep deep dark chocolate. Amazing that the ABV is so low, and that the beer feels so fresh when there is so much dark malts in it. Wonderful beer, quite underrated in my opinion. Almost up there with the Beer Geek as one of the best regular stouts in the world. bu11zeye (5609), Frisco, Texas, USA

Aroma is dark malt-chocolate, roasty, secondary hops acidic. Taste follows. Lots of hops, the dark malt balances it nicely, more towards a porter. OK carbonation. Occasional. Rich dark malts have minty and thyme-like vapors. You can tell it’s gonna feel creamy from the nose. Surprisingly, hops are not a big factor in this one, gentle cocoa roastiness are paired with an effective and complex nut array to create a globally spicy flavour profile. As weird as it sounds, I feel this would pair well with asiatic food. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth texture. CaptainCougar (5520), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 18, 2003 Pours a thick opaque black with a thick tan head which leaves rings of lace with each sip. Aroma is mostly roasted malts with some chocolate and coffee present. Body is thick and robust with plenty of sweet caramel malt and a nice hoppy bitterness. Finishes rich and roasty with a mildly sticky bitterness. No noticeable alcohol. A nicely balanced, very drinkable and enjoyable stout. hopscotch (5511), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The aroma is all espresso and dark chocolate with just a hint of black cherry and raspberry. The flavor is full of dark chocolate, espresso, ash and everything else burnt. Also a hint of buttermilk. Full-bodied with a creamy and astringent mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, burnt, moderately bitter finish. Very, very nice! Thanks go out to Andre' for the bottle.
