| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 15, 2005 Bottle - Limited Release 2005-2006: This is a stout worthy of props. It is a thick black color and the head resembles dirty motor oil bubbles. Cool! The head is also fluffy and the lacing is clingy, like a cheap suit. The aromas fill up the nasal cavities with burnt malts, coffee and dark chocolate. The flavors are equally tasty: chipotle like roasted flavors with a strong espresso presence like Pike’s neighbor, Starbuck’s. What I liked about this stout is that it wasn’t too sweet - it had a semi-bitter aftertaste. The feel is comforting as the thick & creamy liquid ricochets off the inner cheeks and down the throat. This one is definitely in my top five for stouts. Yummalicious! Soonah (980), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2008 Bomber from acertain as a bonus in a trade we did last fall. Thanks again! The pour was super dark brown and nearly viscous. A small dark tan, light brown head popped up briefly. A very nice looking beer. The aroma was roast malt, coffee and thin chocolate. Faint hops noticed as the beer opened up. The flavor was a nice blend of smoke, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Better than average mouthfeel. A very well built, very nice stout. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 13, 2007 22oz bottle. Nearly opaque black-brown with a small dark brown head. Heavy dark alefruit aroma, some nuttiness. Meaty roastiness up front, tinges of chocolate. Figgy alefruit manifests, some acrid floral hop component. Lingering coffee bean astringent roastiness in the finish, slight chocolate flavor. Mouthfeel is a heavy medium, somewhat drying. TipsyMcStager (946), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2003 Sampled from 50 deg to 55 deg F. Pours a deep dark brown color with a dark tan head. The aroma went from intense smokey to a nice raosted coffee bean, bittersweet chocolate, hops bitterness character. The flave was at first intense smokey and woody, and then became more chocolate in character...some hops bite...definite roasted coffee bean tone. The feel was, as the bottle says, velvety, silky smooth. Interesting stout. Very good. danielcurtis81 (916), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice coffee black with a roasted tan head. Nose is dark roasted coffee, nice. Flavors are full of that dark roasted coffee as well. Really nice hints of chocolate too. Smoky flavors become more predominate a little latter in the bottle. Gets to me a little too much smoke come the end. The beginning is awesome and the smokiness is well done but just gets old. Still a good stout!
