It looked like a redheaded stepchild but packed all the right flavors. Chocolate, a little coffee, some toasty flavors, all-around goodness RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 6, 2006 22oz bottle from Secret Santa. Aroma: Deep, semi sweet roasted malt with big chocolate character. Coffee, anise, chalk, and some dark fruits. Smells really good. Appearance: Pours very black with no discernible highlights. Dark tan head was full and creamy with great retention. Great lacing. Flavor: Heavy roasted malt, coffee, smoke, dark fruits, and a light hop pineyness. Roasted malt and hop bitterness is fairly high. Palate: Medium-full bodied and creamy. Moderate carbonation. Overall: Good one. Nice roasted malt qualities and a great rich mouthfeel. wickedpete (629), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Black body with zero light penetration, thick brown cap floats on top that has the consistency of melted marshmallow. Burnt malty aroma, some bitter chocolate, a mild sourness, and a hidden aroma that I’ll call brand new rubber boot. Burnt malt flavour with massive bitterness. Piney hops dominate thank gawd this isn’t citrusy hops. Dust and backers chocolate linger in the after taste. Not bad I guess nothing over the top or memorable though. puboflyons (611), New Hampshire, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 19, 2009 From the 650 ml bottle with no obvious lot code or expiration date. Everything about this suggests it is something solid and firm. It pours from the heavy weight bottle an opaque brown with creamy brown head and decent lacing. The aroma is alive with smoky chocolate malt with the strength of an Imperial Stout. The mouthfeel is creamy and bold. The taste tingles with coffee, chocolate and hops and settles fine on the palate. This was a topnotch stout. Hoss (602), Florida, USA
