The aroma is all espresso and dark chocolate with just a hint of black cherry and raspberry. The flavor is full of dark chocolate, espresso, ash and everything else burnt. Also a hint of buttermilk. Full-bodied with a creamy and astringent mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, burnt, moderately bitter finish. Very, very nice! Thanks go out to Andre' for the bottle. beerguy101 (3969), Newark, California, USA

Flavor is full, coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is malty with a slight bitterness. Very similar to the 2000 release. The flavor is slightly less intense, subtler in this release. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA

Nice strong chocolate smell, and and some smoked coffee feeling to it as well. Mouthfeel is a somewhat oilyand has a good presence. Overall smoked chocolately flavor and a good hearty aftertaste. Goes down easily, and leaves with a small bitterness that makes you want another one. Lubiere (4551), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 18, 2009 A deep dark stout with a super thick lacing dark moka head. In aroma, dark chocolate over roasted coffee grinds, some vanilla beans, and some wooden notes. In mouth, a beautiful and classy stout, with loads of black coffee, herbal qualities, light licorice, and some nice light C-hops. Turely interesting. The aroma is really smoky, also some roasted malt and fruits. The taste is mostly dominated by a bitter/sweet mix, with the sweet brown sugar and malt dominating. There is also a strong smoke and fruity aspect. Really nice. Cavie (1493), Fort Worth, Texas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 13, 2009 On Tap at The Pike. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of sweet toasted dark malt. Tastes of coffee roastedness with a little bit of a burnt note. Earthy hops. Full of flavor, leaves thick tan lacing that coats the glass impressively. There is some depth here. On a side note, this was part of a 3 beer, 3 chocolate beer/chocolate pairing sampler. Only beer that had a chocolate dark and bitter enough to successfully pair.
