Commercial Description:
A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

12oz bottle 2005-2006 release via trade with Indiana_Red - Thanks Ken! - Gushed out of the bottle when the cap was popped. Poured thick black with a big mocha head that fades pretty quick. Big aroma of coffee. molasses, and some baker’s chocolate. Flavor is nice coffee, and baker’s chocolate with a touch of molasses and nuts. Nice dry finish. Palate is full bodied but very smooth and drinkable. Nice dry finish makes this seem more like a dry stout. Lots of burnt flavor throughout. Very interesting and quite tasty.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s Shindig. Black as night. Rich roasty aroma that is very good indeed. Thick dark chocolate flavour with coffee, vanilla and more roasted malt. Gloriously smooth on the palate. Full bodied stout that is fairly straight down the line but jolly tasty.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and mds, blankboy’s bottle. Bit of a gusher, deep opaque black-brown, average creamy brown head. Minty/grassy/herbal hop aroma, deep roast coffee malt. Taste - similar, roasty, somewhat sweet. Solid body, bitter long finish, acidic - solid!

Pours a near-black with a thick brown head. Good lacing. Very roasty aroma and flavour, charred and a little earthy. Bitter chocolate and a hint of fruit (yeast?). Smooth and full-bodied, with medium sweetness. Finish is quite dry. This plays more like a foreign stout in my mind, but who cares... it’s awesome!

2005-2006 release A decent stout. Pours dark with small head. Coffee aromas. Thin feel. Good taste, slightly smoky. Nothing outstanding but plesant. 8/4/6/3/14

2006-2007Wow. New recipe for sure. Aroma still dominated by coffee, but a hint of sourness. Much more hops in both aroma and flavor, like the 3F Black Sun. Dry and slightly bitter at the end. Thicker in the mouth as well. I like the change! 7/4/8/4/16

Lots of lace; good beige head; nearly black color where no light shines through. Semi-sweet chocolate aroma. Relatively mild smell. Stronger flavor of unsweetened coffee. Long aftertaste of solid bittering hop. Relatively thin body compared to many stouts.

Bottled. Beer is opaque, dark brown wih a small, light brown, frothy, diminishing, mostly lasting head. Aroma is very roasty. Malty with moderate-to-heavy notes of roasted grain, chocolate, coffee and molasses; Hoppy with a moderate note of resin; Yeasty with a trace-to-light note of dusty basement. Miscellaneous light woody note, trace of dried currents/raisin. The flavor is heavily sweet, moderately bitter with a long, lightly bittersweet, trace acidic finish. Nice palate: The body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively. Seems more like an Imperial Stout than a standard Stout. Nice richness.

tap at the brewpub - Pours black with a moderate, enduring tan head. The aroma is roast malt and coffee. This full bodied brew has a taste to match and the coffee flavor is at just about the right moderate level. The finish is mildly dry and bitter. Good stout.
