Commercial Description:
A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

Pours a near-black with a thick brown head. Good lacing. Very roasty aroma and flavour, charred and a little earthy. Bitter chocolate and a hint of fruit (yeast?). Smooth and full-bodied, with medium sweetness. Finish is quite dry. This plays more like a foreign stout in my mind, but who cares... it’s awesome!

Bottle.Rating #750. Thanks to Degarth for sending me this one. Dark black body with thin head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, cocoa, and roasted malt. Flavor is bittersweet with a nice malty taste. Chocolate and cocoa are present. Smooth and delicious.

Bottle shared by sliffy...or was that puddintane? Black pour with a short tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark fruits...a bit vinous. Flavor of coffe, some smoke, dark bitter chocolate and some roasted malt. Rich and smooth body with a bitter smokey finish.

A pitch black pour with creamy tan head and lace. Large roasted malt aroma with light chocolate and coffee. An almost licorish hint with a medium malt bitter and a bit of nice warmth. Medium/full bodied with very nice carbonation.

Bomber from acertain as a bonus in a trade we did last fall. Thanks again! The pour was super dark brown and nearly viscous. A small dark tan, light brown head popped up briefly. A very nice looking beer. The aroma was roast malt, coffee and thin chocolate. Faint hops noticed as the beer opened up. The flavor was a nice blend of smoke, roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Better than average mouthfeel. A very well built, very nice stout.

Pour is a dark, dark brown with nice dark tan head. This one is full of bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Slightly roasty with hints of fruit and hops. It has the silky mouthfeel of an oatmeal stout. Tasty.

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a Pike beer... where will this go? Black beer with a dark brown cap, good consistency, really good lacing with sticky messy lacing and permanent rings. The aroma is damn fine. A bit of sweet and freshness (from the hops for sure - a light citrus), soft chocolate with a bit of bakers bitterness, some roasty stuff from coffee. I like the citrus in here. Nothing here is overpowering. A touch earthy. Man, this is an excellent drinking beer. Very well placed bitterness, creamy chocolate blended with a lesser amount of coffee grinds. I can tell there are citrusy hops (grapefruit) here but they are portioned very well. Maybe a bit too bitter on the finish as it lingers heavily. There might bit a hint of biscuit as well. Smooth with a bit zip, some lingering coffee, long hop finish but it’s good because it takes nothing away while adding some needed complexity. I may be ignoring the coffee. I need more!
