Jun 11, 2008 22 oz bottle. Thanks to drewbeerme for sharing this on Memorial Day. I’ve been wanting to try this one for quite awhile. Pours a brown black color with a creamy brown head. Roasted malts, chocolate and a touch of smoke in the aroma. The body is a little watery. Roasted and slighlty ashy malts are dominating the palate. Light bakers chocolate flavors with charred malt, hops, and molasses in the finish. Decent beer, especially for a standard stout. I’d like to see them try to imperialize this.

Feb 14, 2007 A nice full bodied ale. This is a very hoppy stout, and upon the first sip, it almost had grapefruit notes similar to an IPA. This particular stout has a strong flavor to it, very potent in regards to the style. A decent beer that I wouldn’t mid buying again.

Dec 23, 2008 Very good beer. Went to the brewery today, and it was amazing. Nice smooth chocolate and ash taste. This beer was creamy and had a nice brown chocolate head that was excellent. Very smooth and creamy. Went during "hoppy hour" so this made it even better/cheaper. Anyways, a wonderful stout with a nice creamy and coffee/chocolate taste. Have fun drinking this one.

Oct 8, 2009 Bomber. Pours a very dark brown with a medium creamy tan head that lasts awhile leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a strong roasted malt with alcohol, smoke, and chocolate. Full bodied with a thick roasted malt and oatmeal flavor with a bitter finish. A very good stout from Pike.

Jun 16, 2009 Black body with zero light penetration, thick brown cap floats on top that has the consistency of melted marshmallow. Burnt malty aroma, some bitter chocolate, a mild sourness, and a hidden aroma that I’ll call brand new rubber boot. Burnt malt flavour with massive bitterness. Piney hops dominate thank gawd this isn’t citrusy hops. Dust and backers chocolate linger in the after taste. Not bad I guess nothing over the top or memorable though.

Jan 31, 2008 Thanks to Ken for this one. Black pour. Chocolate, licorice, and brown sugar aromas. Flavor is smoky and roasted, with some chocolate noticeable. Thin bodied but nice.

Aug 3, 2002 Taste moves from sweet and innocent to burnt and alcohol filled. A fairly decent stout. Bottle looks bad ass with the five X’s on it. Worth a try.

Nov 21, 2005 Updated: Nov 22, 2005I don’t know why, but this beer taste way better than it smells. It smelled of hops and rotten, infected beer, yet it tasted so divine.
I poured a deep, dark black drink into my snifter. I let it warm a bit took a whiff and WHOA, this beer has gone bad..... or has it? I took a drink and to my pleasant suprise a i got a mouthful of chocolate, roasted coffee, smirling smokey caramel, and a good dose of finishing hops. I just can’t understand how a beer that smelled so foul could taste so good. Another mystery to explore.........
