Draft from the wooden barrel in the callars of the brewery. A hazy light golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of straw, malt, and citrusy notes of hops as well as hints of wood. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of straw and citrus as well as lighter notes of wood and sulpur. I am amazed how great this beer is - I had no idea a pilsner could be this great.
The unfiltered version from steel tank: An unclear dark golden beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, straw, hops, and grass. The flavor is sweetwith notes of grass, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry finish. [8/3/8/4/15=3.8] bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

I was exceptical about whether an unfiltered lager is posible and definitely it is. You try it from the barrel in the Pilsner Brewery is only available for tourists. The sensation of natural carbonation is incredible, aroma is fresh. Yellow opaque colour with the best foam I’ve ever seen on a lager. Unfortunately in the tour I tried pellets of hop and the taste remained in my mouth for longer, then I couldn’t differenciate the biterness from the hop to that from the beer. However it has been my best experience with lagers . Well done Pilsner Urquell!!! chuwy (21), Japan
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 18, 2008 Wonderful. REAL beer.Unfiltered, unpasturised/unbeatable. Great temperature, straight from the barrel in the cellars. Had over 9 large plastic cups, onthe 2 times I went down there. Much, much better than the stuff they serve in the brewery restaurant/bar. The atmosphere is better, too. Highly recommended. Better than the filtered stuff they sell outside (but that is good, too!). Don’t settle for just the one glass - always ask for more! Hazy golden color, creamy white head, lace. Malty and hoppy aroma with grainy and barnyardish notes. Very balanced malty, buttery with strong bitterness from Saaz hops. Velvety mouthfeel. This version lacks diacetylic flavors of normal Urquell. Marsiblursi (1653), Göteborg, Sweden
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 10, 2008 Updated: Jul 11, 2008(Draught/barrel) Pours a hazy, glowing golden with a big white head. The aroma is extremely fresh and well balanced with tones of straw and bread like malt alongside a good dose of floral, grassy and light herbal hops. The undertones reveal some sweet notes of toffee and fudge but there is also some hints of dew and dough. A light, subtle fruitiness way in the background. Some earth and sulphur hints. Maybe a touch of lemon and lime. Tart and yeasty. The flavour is fresh, robust and full with a discreet, light to medium, straw malt sweetness and a medium grassy and clean bitterness. Almost citric and oaky on the finish. The mouthfeel is refreshingly crisp, creamy, light numbing and juicy with a dry finish. The aftertaste is pale malty with some herbal/floral freshness creping up on you. Medium full bodied. A perfect Pilsner.
