A truly special beer moment: pours from the barrel slightly darker, more orange than the pastuerized stepchild commonly dispersed throughout the world; the unfiltered yeast that shows up as rich and hazy in the plastic cup gives wonderful depth and dimension to the mouthfeel: creamy, velvety, with much more malt sweetness, slightly tart, and a smooth yeasty finish. Citrus rind hops on the nose, minty towards the finish. Just a truly special experience, with the rating only somewhat slanted accordingly, as the beer itself deserves the highest praise. As soon as my lips touched the cup (plastic) I wanted to kill everyone at the Urquell brewery for not bottling this elixir and instead the other stuff that hits the shelves It’s a different beer from the mediocre tipple they market to the masses but this is real pilsner and I’ve never had anything like it before or since. I think about this beer a lot, it haunts my memory. Very special stuff The bright orange, hazy color, the full-on hop aromas and especially flavors that burst through and permeate the palate, like no other pilsener I have ever tasted that’s for sure. If all pilsener were like this, the world would be a better place. Sofajoern (146), Denmark

Granted. This really is a looker. Perfectly poured with a big lasting white head over a hazy yellow body. However, having read all of the rave reviews on this site I have to say that it disappoints a bit. Perhaps the version from the cellars is different and better.
This is not to say that it’s a very nice beer. I just didn’t find it *that* good.
Anyways. Light hoppy scent with notes of honey and citrus fruits. Flavour is quite sharp, precise, and very well balanced. Easily drinkable and superbly refreshing yet surprisingly full bodied for its style. A bit more complexity and this would be very, very good. As it is I just found it to be a very good pilsener and not much more. andrewboss (137), New York, USA
