500 mL bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Downtown Charlottesville. Lemon-orange pour, hazy, with a huge head. Moderate retention and lacing. Aroma of candied citrus, spice and banana. Taste is citrus, bread, banana, cotton candy, wheat, grain. On the sweeter side. Thin body.

0.5 l bottle shared with a friend who brought from Köln, thanks Toni. It poured murky golden body, lighter in color than most of Hefeweizens. Bigger head. Typical estery aroma, banana, some orange, cloves, quite nice. Flavor is a bit watery, but pleasantly sweet wheat malty with that fruity notes of yeast. Finish lasts for a short period but follows beer’s pleasant flavor. OK, pleasant but nothing particularly good, pretty lower average Hefeweizen.

Bottle from Kegs & Barels in McKinney, TX. Pours a cloudy gold with nice white head. Small aroma of bannana and lemon. Flavor has small bannana notes with some light citris and bread. Mouth feel is light with high carbonation. Over all this is a pretty good basic Heff....

Pinkus Hefe Weizen is a cloudy, highly sparkling, pale yellow beer with a small white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is a bit faint, and of bubble gum, banana and lemon. It is light bodied and fluffy in the mouth. It seems pretty watery and it leaves the tongue a bit ragged and chalky. I taste wheat, but there really isn’t any presence from the esters. There is a little bit of fusel going on here. The flavor is pretty disjointed. It kind of tastes like chalk, aspirin, Natural Ice and Wheaties. I will smoke a cigarette while drinking the rest of this beer. It seems like an American wheat beer gone wrong.

(bottle) Pours a very hazy light gold as a copious amount of yeast was deposited into my weizen glass upon pouring. The aroma (as well as previous ratings) are an immediate red flag that this is not a good hefe. Instead of the nice vanilla, clove, or banana, there is lemon, must, and sourness mixed with a yeast undertone. Pretty awful actually. The taste is very underwhelming, with this light sweetness that could be mistaken for some banana, but is more dominated by a citric flavor with a somewhat crisp wheaty finish and a medium body. This was not even remotely good, and I immediately regretted purchasing the bottle.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color weizen with a huge white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of banana ester with some wheat malt also noticeable. Taste is also a well balance mix between some light banana ester and some wheat malt. Full body with great carbonation which I enjoy in this style. While this is well done, I would have appreciated some more banana and clove ester.
