A deep, somewhat cloudy, brown with a short brown-beige top. Aroma of pumpernickel, coffee, butter, and toffee. Medium-full body with good carbonation. Flavorful malts of toffee and caramel, with buttery hazelnut flavors fading in strong, and a smooth root beer and sour whiskey finish.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Mild spiced and slight roasted cornish aroma. Mild breadish and dry malty with a light spice note. Mild spiced and roasted into the finish. Lingering roasted and breadish malty with a light bitterness.

Dark brown, slight but long lasting white head. Aroma is sweet, bready, a faint sourish twang, perhaps from roasted malts. Flavor is bready with a bittering dryness on a slightly roasty finish. Not bad, had more in common with a schwarzbier in some ways.

Medium brown pour, amber hue at the edges, good clarity, soft off-white head. Toasted malt nose, lots of bright yeastiness and that hop character to the finish that all of their beers seem to have, a bit of a fruity mineral note.

Clear dark copper color with a tall light tan head. Graham cracker aromas. Fairly unassuming, but certainly no off or objectionable scents. Flavors so typical of a quality german lager. Mild malt and dark honey. Finish has a bit herbal hops. LIght oak in the linger. A solid quality brew.

[bottle--thanks, pivnizub!] Interesting aroma of sherry, spicy melanoidins, cherries, butterscotch, and dried apricots. Almost clear red brown under a very bubbly, krauseny, beige foam that drops to a thin cover with lacing. The flavor is unfortunately dominated by cardboardy sourness that develops into some sherry, nuts, and dried fruit. This beer has a serious wild side that is really not traditionally German. I wonder if it may be a little infected. A bit buttery too. Light body, medium carbonation, nutty buttery sour finish.

(33 cl bottle from a friend at the WOA festival) On August 4, 2008. Hazy brown color, off-white head. Sweet, malty, caramel scent. Sweet, malty, caramel taste as well. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

Bottle. [Courtesy of Sk8viking, thanks René] Large off-white creamy like head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Dark amber like color. Aroma was quite malty with notes of roasted and caramelized like notes. Light rue bread and hint of fruit. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor. Malty smooth and sweet finish. Quite nice!
