This brewery seems to get generally low ratings, but I have always liked their beers. This one is malty, caramelly, nutty, a tad smoky, in short, everything I like in a Vienna lager. Plus it’s organic so maybe it is good for me.

Deep copper colour, and a malty, toasty, nutty, almost cracker-like aroma. The palate is smooth, with honeyish notes amidst clean malt flavours, and a firmer, drier, whiskeyish character in the finish.

Bottle. Lovely aroma, slightly musty and bready, with yeast. Deep reddish-amber body, substantial off-white head. Flavor is subtle and robust, roasty, breadish, with malt and some nuttiness. Lingering sticky finish. A really delightful beer.

A deep, somewhat cloudy, brown with a short brown-beige top. Aroma of pumpernickel, coffee, butter, and toffee. Medium-full body with good carbonation. Flavorful malts of toffee and caramel, with buttery hazelnut flavors fading in strong, and a smooth root beer and sour whiskey finish.

Wonderful dark brown color with an off white head that laces all the way down. Taste is understated but very nice--slightly sweet, with a biscuity, caramelly malt tone dominating. Just a hint of hop bitterness. Also, a slight yeasty note. Mouthfeel could be thicker, but overall, quite good.

We tasted the organic version from the MJ Beer Club. The color was dark and cola like. Very carbonated. Sweet and malty with a dry finish.

Bottled 50cl. Courtesy of pivnizub. Nut brown with a decent beige head. Inviting fruity malty aroma with hints of candy, vanilla, smoke, raisins (what I associate with the usage of Vienna malt), papaya, walnut, mocha, fantastic hops (!) and tobacco. Nice astringence, faint acidity in the taste. Remarkably dry. Mediocre sticky spotty lacework. Great malt profile. Medium bodied. Baklava sneaking in. Smoky finish. Definetely an interesting, very pleasant beer with plenty of character. Thanks a lot pivnizub!

500 ml bottle in half mas. Brown with lasting head and lace. Very caramel and bread. Toasted caramel flavor with lager grassiness and a tiny bit of wateriness. Medium-light body and carbo. For a Vienna, I think this is quite good. Overall, if you like carmel-tasting dark lagers, this is a good one. I’m enjoying it.
