It may be a German ale but it is no alt. It’s yellow not copper, and it’s like a zingy herbal tea not a grainy sweet hopped up alt bier. I hate this stuff. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 24, 2005 Poured dark yellow with very little head. There was a lot of foam. Nose had lemon cake, apple and citrus. Taste had that over tart appe taste which was overdone. Too much lemon as well. There was tart orange in it as well. I had trouble with this one. I will try it again and see if it is any better. TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2005 Dark yellow. Tight, persistent layer of white foam. Yeasty, rounded nose of toasted hay, taffy, lemon cake, and overripe honeyed apples. Low fruitiness and a dash of herbal hops. Densely creamy but with the lightness of meringue. First sip reveals a mild tingle of acidity and a zingy punch of herbal hops. Well-rounded unripe melon fruitiness balances the brief toasted hay and toffee-glazed Munich sweetness. Slick fruitiness continues to pummel its way through, steadily bolstering the quenching nature. Finishes with a textural brush of apple, chalk, and fennel-laced hops which coarsen the slick trail of unripe melon acidity. Good stuff. gws57 (1144), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2005 Had this one bottled. Far lighter than the other Alts I’ve had, this one is pale orange and quite cloudy with a thin head and nose of citrus. Flavor is somewhat sweet and quite malty. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2005 This poured out a cloudy yellow with a beer smell. Pretty yummy and just what I wanted (a lighter beer on a hot night). ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 12, 2005 Cloudy peachy color with a quickly dissipating head. Light hefe aroma. Um, not a whole lot of flavor in this. Fizzy mouthfeel that’s wet and with faint yeasty/hoppy aftertaste. I don’t remember the German purity law requirement of bland beer, but I guess its in there.
