KingPinHead (390), Des Moines, Washington, USA Apr 21, 2003 Aroma is rich, malty, and slightly yeasty, which is characteristic of a good many organic brews---but very pleasant...Color is a slightly hazy sunny-gold; the big, tight off-white head has peaks...Surf's up! The front is malty sweet, followed by light hoppiness and a slightly yeasty tang that lingers throught the mild dry finish---hints of spice here as well. Carbonation is held in check...This has pretty good balance and decent body, and is cleaner tasting than most organics. Overall, this is an attractive offering, a good combination of flavor and substance.
KimJohansen (5208), Copenhagen V, Denmark Dec 24, 2008 Cloudy golden with medium white head. Sweet maltyh aroma with notes of caramel and fruits. Swee flavourwith malty and fruity notes. Trev (629), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Dec 15, 2008 pours a gold colour with a tight white head. Lighter than I expected.
Aroma is grassy, lemony hop and some yeastiness, more akin to the ur-pils that I tried than most alts I thought.
Flavour was grainy and light, though very drinkable. Slightly tart at times. g2bfry (39), San Diego, California, USA Dec 5, 2008 Salty cracker malt aroma. White head with some nice lace sticking firmly to the glass. A golden yellow color, different than the typical dark malt altbiers. Light body, just a little carbonation. Slightly sweet taste, honey and white breads. Some yeast flavors that persist on the palate. crazyvin (1132), New York, USA Dec 5, 2008 A disappointment i must say, seemed to be a little on the corn-like pale lager side for me. Some subtle bread malt notes and a slight sweetness but corn was the main player. TheJollyOne (70), Kofu, Japan Nov 29, 2008 Beautiful large white head over a cloudy, golden straw colored, body. Nice grassy hop aroma, cooked white bread and forest pine. I was surprised at the taste, excellent balance of Grass, herbs, and grapefruit citrus. Very tasty! Started sour on the tongue and then moved to bitter, all hop. Almost creamy on the palate, full and foamy, went down beautifully. I was very surprised by this unassuming beer. This would be an amazing session beer, or one to savor.
