Pour is a dark red with a big tan head. Aroma is tough to guage. Its malty but that’s about it. Flavor is brown sugar and cherry with a very nice tartness at the end. Its ok but nothing to get excitied about.

12 oz bottle pours a hazy orange- amber with a nice creamy lasting light brown head that leaves some lacing in my glass. Fruity pear and chocolate aromas, bread, caramel, honey and whiskey flavors, medium bodied with a soft and full mouthfeel, finishes with a mild sweetness, a decent bock.

In the bottle at the Huber Haus. Dark reddish amber with a fleeting white head. Very harsh palate, not smooth at all. Highly carbonated with a hop bite. No aroma. Sweetness is dominant.

On-tap at Gitchee Gumee Brewfest - Dark firey copper color with a slim to none head, just a whispy skimming. Aroma is strangely toasted with some blackened toffee and caramel covering some raisiny fig notes. Taste is about the same with sweetly darkened toffee and caramel coming across as burnt with some darker molasses tones, root beer, raisin, and brown sugar notes. Feel is oddly clean within a lighter body and has a raspy carbonation that mangles up the sweet burnt notions making it a bit harsh in the finish where it drys off some with burnt raisin toast. For just a bock this was about what I’d come to expect from the style, but it just had too strange of a burnt taste for me to like it any more then I did.

Sept 17 2004 on the label. Dark orangish red body, off-white creamy thin head. Rich malty aroma. Almost like a fruity malt barleywine with chocolate and caramel hints. The nose is quite good... it is rich and full, but doesn’t seem fake or overdone. It does have occaisional grainy/dusty hints though. Taste is buttery sweet malt/bread with a slight sweet coffee-like finish. Not too great... its a bit annoying to drink a lot of... not a fan of the butter thing. It is full bodied though, and not too bad.

Copper/amber/brown body with fleeting head. Lots of maltiness going on here but there is a pervasive sense of the artificial. Like a weak cup of coffee with a dose of Equal. Poles apart from the commercial description.
