Piraat has plenty of spice, body, and alcohol to put you down for the night. I didn’t think that the taste of this beer was as fruity as it was spicy with loads of coriander and and honey. Good sipping beer that grabs the back of your throat as you swallow. If you don’t know what I mean by that...try it. JonnyDr (132), , South Yorkshire, England

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Pours a beautiful amber-golden colour with an impressive fluffy white head. Aroma is very malty, with a subtle fruitiness and even a hint of toffee. Malt is the dominant flavour throughout, however the sweetness brought about from the grape-like and sweet citrus flavours balances this bitterness well. The alcoholic flavour shocked me at first, but after a few mouthfuls the alcoholic flavour is completely masked by the complexity gained from the combination of bitter and sweet flavours. Quite crisp despite its maltiness. Yo ho ho! Ibrew2or3 (2843), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Squat little dusty bottle of unknown vintage found in a corner at Lueken’s in Dunedin, FL. Pours murky brackish brown with gold streaks and edges to go along with a light colored tan head. The aroma first attacks with fruitiness coming from sweet grapes and sweet apples then softens up with smooth muted spices and earthiness. Another draw brings up prunes, figs and over ripe cherries. The taste is punctuated by bubbly carbonation creating bold yet smooth notes of apples, grapes and then sweet Belgian candi sugar. Then by midway the fruitiness becomes darker and richer and accompanied by smooth blended spice notes. It ends pretty dry with a lingering an apple, raisin and grape mixture.
