Mar 17, 2008 3/15/08 - Courtesy/shared with Naka. Pours hazy golden orange/bronze with off-white head, small and frothy. Nose is a battlefield. Bready/biscuity malt with apple and sweet, light brown sugar. Taste is sweet fruit, apple and raisin, brown sugar and rock candy. A dry, crisp finish rounds out this way to highly drinkable high ABV goodness. Only get the hint of alcohol well into the after. Slight funk, but very mild. Bitter hiding in there, too. Good stuff.

Mar 15, 2008 Pours a hazy orange golden color with a one-finger white fizzy head. Some barely noticeable lacing. Strong aroma of apples with a brown sugar that belies its appearance. If you get down into it, you can feel the alcohol in your lungs. Has a fruity malt flavor with some toffee and yeast; VERY present alcohol. Has strange subdued funky bitter underneath it all. This has pretty mediocre ratings, but this is an excellent beer.

Mar 15, 2008 Pours golden with white foamy head. Aroma is citrusy and bready. Nice body and flavor. Some banana and bubblegum, but not too much. Nice sweet finish.

Mar 13, 2008 This was a peculiar brew. Too sweet for my liking, though it had a very nice tart element. good color and nice haze. Decent, but I’d not go out of my way.

Mar 10, 2008 Pours a golden yellow with a foamy white head. Smells of citrus fruit and a little alcohol. Hops hit the tounge first, then the taste is malt and has a sweet taste that lingers. The alcohol barely comes through. Medium body with good carbonation.

Mar 8, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with nice white head that leaves good lacing around the glass. Aroma is fruity, sweet, and spicy with a hint of hops and malt. Taste is wonderful, sweet fruits and spices playing excellent off of one another, with a dry crisp finish. Mouthfeel was tangy but clean and not syrupy. It amazes me that with such a high alcohol content this beer really has a great taste. I really enjoy Piraat it has become my go to Belgian beer.

Mar 8, 2008 Simply the Best, this beer has everything I enjoy in a beer, high alcohol is a must but it does not hurt the taste in anyway, I used to love delirium but after tasting piraat I cant get enough,,with a big dish of mussels and a few of these of god you have a happy mouth belly and brain

Mar 8, 2008 Bottled 33cl. It pours a pale hazy golden beer with a huge beautiful white head. The nose is of grapefruit, grapes, melon, alcohol and lemon. A very strong aroma. A bit acidic. The flavor is mainly of melon, grapefruit and lemon. A bready malt character. Hoppy with a hint of pine needles. There is quite a bite to this beer. A lot of alcohol accompanied by a great bitterness. Unexpected dry spicy peppery finish.
