Lovely, softly hazy, medium golden colour, with gloppy mounds of white foam, leaving some wispy lacing. Sharp malt taste, surrounded by notes of pear, clove, and slightly burnt toast. Rich, gooy mouthfeel that makes me smack my lips. The alcohol is noticeable in the warm feeling that has engulfed me, but its effortless quaffability belies the 10.5% hammer. Tiver me shimbers-arghh!. Piraats are your friends.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2009 Slightly fruity aroma with dough/yeast smells. Nice, thick white head. Golden amber in color with a lot of carbonation present. Great lacing. Bitter aftertaste with an alcohol taste present. Has a complex flavor. Has the Belgium yeast flavor but the alcohol is too evident for my taste. Ok beer but there are better Belgiums. skoll (135), Traverse City, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Poured a bright illuminating golden color with a huge head. After a couple minutes when the foam went down, the aroma hit me with strong notes of honey, alcohol and wheat. Taste was very rich, sort of zesty. Green apple, pear and lemon on the nose. Flavors were pleasent, with a noticeable alcohol in the back of the mouth. ericandersnavy (1135), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Dec 9, 2009 Smells strong of light malts and alcohol. Very light in appearance, good head on pour but doesn’t last, very clear, medium red hues. Heavy malt flavours with carbonations, almost an apple taste from a lighter beer but before you get the full apple taste the heaviness of the yeast takes over the taste. Strong flavour, but not as well rounded as in the description. I’d say the smell and the aftertaste are huge peaks in this beer. satan165 (606), River Grove, Illinois, USA
