Pours a hazy brownish amber with a big creamy white head that shows good lacing.
The aroma is interesting and dominated by the toasted malts with some caramel thrown in. The hops are there in the nose but really just in a supporting role. Definitely not the nose of an APA.
The taste follows the aroma and has plenty of caramel malt sweetness and some floral hops that are more prevalent in the bitter finish than up front. The taste has an overall dry and slightly toasted character.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied, smooth and a bit crisp in the finish.
This is not one of my favorite Pisgah brews but it’s certainly drinkable despite not having a ton of complexity. Good but not great. beerandIT (183), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 24, 2009 Pours a darker amber color with a decent amount of head. Malt on the nose with a very subtle hint of hops. Medium bodied with a nice clean finish on the palate. Nice lacing on the glass but very brief indeed. Not too bad, but not too great at the same time. dkachur (2359), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

It didn’t do anything special. Its good, but nothing with high marks. Ibrew2or3 (2761), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA

The pour is brown with amber highlights to go along with a tan head and nice lacing. The aroma is a bit mild with some malty roastiness mixed with light dark fruitiness. The taste is much like the aroma with dates, prunes and some raisins that slowly turn more and more into a roasted maltiness. The finish is mostly roasted malts that linger for some time. For an organic beer I didn’t pick up any of the stale malts that have become a hallmark of an organic brew, to me. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA

caramel brown pour...off white head, abotu 1.5 fingers thick...decent retention, some nice lacing...nose of bready malts, some fruity esters...also get some hops, mainly floral in nature...some chocolate and dark sweet notes as well...flavor is pretty much identical to the aroma, but a bit toned down in each regard...medium bodied, average-high carbonation...slightly sticky on the palate...finish is medium length, bready and sweet, then with some floral perfumey hops and finally finishing with some chocolate.
